WHERE ARE YOU RUSHING TO?

“Hastiness and superficiality are the psychic diseases of the twentieth century.”
Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

In a world where everyone is running towards success, wealth, fame, power, and other luxury life offers. You ought not to be surprised when a stampede occurs.

They say slow and steady win the race, well, that quote has long gone out of existence, most especially in this 21st century. You might be wondering how this came to be, don’t think too far. Technology and civilization helped stir it all. (Now you think I have a problem with technology, no, I don’t) You read on!

When we have stoves replaced with gas cookers

Microwaves present for a quick warm

Money received by easy transfers

Popularity achieved on the streets of social media

Church services enjoyed from the comfort of homes (The list is unending…)

What a bliss, right?

Little wonder why patience has gone through the back door, leaving us with fragments to live by.

Of course, we are privileged to live at this time, to bask in the comfort of technology and its numerous innovations, to get results faster than we could ever imagine with just a swipe on our mobile devices. But, we are beginning to forget something, humans can’t run like machines.

We were created to dominate the world, not to be dominated by the world.

The pursuit for the good things of life has made men do the unthinkable!

Now, we don’t want to wait for anything. Lives are being lived on a fast-moving pedestal.

Some years back, owning an iPhone 12 was surely not a big accomplishment; getting a good job was. ( I know the present economy has a hand in this too).

Owning a Benz at age 21 was a fantasy, a big one at that, but not anymore, though (LOL)

And yet, we wonder why the depression rate increases daily?

A wise man once said, If you live too early, you won’t grow and if you don’t grow, the scale and scope of your life will be very limited.

Having all these things is important but sustaining it all without stripping your humanity is more important. Yes, many are running, but you can choose your own pace. You don’t have to follow the crowd. (DO YOU!)

That way, you get to live on your own time, not another’s.

You get to tell your own story, not a photocopy.

You get to grow and experience life in all its shades.

You get to learn from your mistakes, relearn from your experiences and unlearn from setbacks.

Instead of looking to harvest a seed you never planted, it is best to allow time, it makes little things grow.

For everything, there is a season, a time for every activity on the surface of the earth. It is best to endure the process, to learn from the process, rather than skip the process because life is a process and should be treated as one.
